The handwriting of music legends Bowie, Cobain, Lennon as typefaces
There something intimate about seeing these song lyrics from musical legends in the handwriting they were scribbled down, created and constructed in. They communicate more than just the sum of their parts and the words themselves they add a layer of feeling and insight into character and emotions behind those words. Fantastic to hear that […]
This dual use typeface merges braille with type you can see
What a great idea for a dual-use typeface, overlaying both braille and a usable typeface. Very smart indeed. See this story in full at: FastDesign
DIY typography for Pick Me Up 2016
A very hands-on experimental project for the Pick Me Up Graphic Arts Festival. You can create your own DIY typography and letterforms by using their online tool and then submit them for inclusion in their collaborative alphabet. The letterform you create and submit could be used in their promotion, signage and publications for the event.
A Typeface That Changes Like a Memory
A very interesting project caught my eye this week. The concept of memory and how it’s not a solid thing but more of a shifting fluid idea overtime. A typeface alternative to Lorem Ipsum
There really aren’t many alternatives to good old Lorem Ipsum when creating design mockups without real text. That is until now, ‘Blokk’ is a typeface that acts as dummy text for design work, and it’s certainly something I’ll be using in the future.
Identify any web typeface you see on the web
A great little tool for website designers, website developers and alike. Fount enables you to identify any live typeface on the web. Just drag the button found over at the Fount website into your bookmarks bar to install. It tells you what the weight and size of the typeface is as well, a very handy little tool.
KernType – A Kerning Game
I can’t imagine there are many kerning based games knocking about the internet, so it was great to stumble upon this one via Twitter. ‘Kern Me’ is a Html 5 built website that challenges designers and a like to kern various words and be scored on the results. I scored 85% on my first turn, […]
