Print design for a free online science engagement event
I'm a Scientist, Get Me Out of Here
Print Design & Brand Materials

The Brief
I'm a Scientist, Get Me Out of Here is a free online event where school students get to meet and interact with real scientists. It's an X Factor-style competition where students are the judges — they challenge scientists over fast-paced live chats, ask them anything they want, and vote for their favourite to win a £500 prize for science communication. Dot Media were briefed to create a suite of print materials that brought the brand to life in physical form — from debate cards to posters and event materials.

Digital Presence
Alongside the print work we created screen mockups and digital assets to ensure the brand translated seamlessly from print to screen. The challenge was maintaining the bold, energetic feel of the brand across very different formats — from small debate cards held in a student's hand to full-screen digital interfaces used during live events.
I'm an Astronaut
As part of the wider 'I'm a Scientist' family of events, we created print materials for the 'I'm an Astronaut' variant — using the same fast-paced competition format but focused specifically on space science. The design needed to feel distinct from the core brand while remaining clearly part of the same family, using bold imagery and typography that captures the excitement of space exploration.

I'm an Engineer
We also produced print materials for 'I'm an Engineer, Get Me Out of Here' — a spin-off event connecting students with practising engineers. Each variant in the series required its own visual identity and colour palette while staying true to the original brand's bold, accessible, competition-show aesthetic.
I'm a Scientist — Print Design
A bold, energetic print design suite for one of the UK's most innovative science education programmes — bringing the excitement of the competition to life in physical form, from debate cards to full event collateral.

The Full Print Range
The full suite of print materials spanned event collateral, debate cards, posters, and supporting materials — all designed to make the science feel exciting, accessible and human. Every piece needed to work for a young student audience while remaining credible and professional enough to represent the scientists taking part.
