…and Pantones colour of 2011 is..

    Dec 14

So it’s the moment you have all been waiting for, well probably not, but much like last year Pantone have announced it’s colour predictions for 2011.
Mostly a marketing gimmick (but judging by the amount of turquoise that was knocking about during 2010) definitely an influence on the design world. Pantone has announced its colours of the season.

The colour is Honeysuckle (18-2120) and Pantone says “Energising Honeysuckle Lifts Spirits and Imparts Confidence to Meet Life’s Ongoing Challenges”.
“No purely fun-time mimosa (2008), honeysuckle is living in the real world – it’s going to keep you pepped up as you face those Challenges. That remain Ongoing. And while turquoise (2009) did indeed serve “as an escape for many” (those days are long gone) a decent bit of honeysuckle naturally “emboldens us to face everyday troubles with verve and vigor”.
So expect to see a sea of ‘Honeysuckle 18 -2120’ throughout the design and fashion world in 2011 or variations of it.
Pantones 2011 predictions aside, what was your colour of 2010?

@Dunc – Sounds like an interesting trip, any insider colour trends you can share with us? 🙂
Pantone are certainly extending their range.. mugs, bread tins, notebooks the list goes on… world domination is on the horizon.
@Amanda – I saw it as more ‘fleshy’ but I know what you mean, maybe it will come into it’s own once used with other colours. Have to say I’ve not used it yet.
    Thanks for the comments guys.

    It’s a bit pukey really isn’t it? 🙂

Nice. I was at Premiere Vision in Paris a couple of months ago checking out the fashion textiles colour palettes for 2011/12. I did see a bit of Honeysuckle about. More SS trend than AW though.
Pantone are intent on taking over the world! 🙂
